1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using Remi ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Remi is a social cooking log that lets users document meals they cook, share content with others, discover recipes and creators, and optionally use AI-assisted features related to recipe and metadata generation. The Service is operated by Kevin Shim (individual).
Remi also uses service providers to support core operations such as authentication, infrastructure, optional AI features, and product analytics.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
To use Remi, you must be at least 13 years old and capable of forming a binding agreement under applicable law.
- You must provide accurate and current account information.
- You may sign in using a supported phone-number or email-based authentication method.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity that occurs under your credentials.
4. Verification Messages
If you use phone-based authentication, you agree to receive SMS messages containing one-time verification codes needed to sign in or secure your account. Message frequency is limited to authentication events, and carrier message and data rates may apply.
If you use email-based authentication, you agree to receive transactional emails needed to verify or access your account.
5. User Content
You are responsible for the content you create, upload, post, or otherwise make available through Remi, including photos, captions, notes, recipes, comments, ratings, collections, and profile information.
- You retain ownership of the content you upload.
- By uploading or posting content, you grant Remi a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and otherwise use that content solely as necessary to operate, improve, and provide the Service.
- This license ends when your content is deleted from our systems, except to the extent content has been shared with others or retained in backups for a limited period.
6. Community Rules
Remi has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
You agree not to upload, share, or engage in content or behavior that:
- Violates applicable laws or regulations.
- Infringes the intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights of another person.
- Contains harassment, threats, hate speech, sexually explicit material, or content that promotes violence or self-harm.
- Is fraudulent, deceptive, or impersonates another person or entity.
- Attempts to interfere with the security, integrity, or proper operation of Remi.
We may remove content, suspend or remove accounts, and otherwise restrict access when these rules are violated.
Users can report objectionable content or abusive behavior from within the app, block other users, and contact us for support. We review safety reports and act on objectionable content within 24 hours.
7. AI-Generated Content
Remi offers optional AI-powered features that can generate recipe information or title-and-tag suggestions from photos and related context you provide.
- AI output is provided for convenience only and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for allergies, food safety, or dietary needs.
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated content before using or sharing it.
- Remi is not liable for harm or loss resulting from reliance on AI-generated content.
8. Intellectual Property
The Remi name, logo, branding, software, design, and related materials are owned by Kevin Shim or licensed to Remi and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except as allowed by law or by these Terms, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the Service.
9. Privacy
Your use of Remi is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that Remi may use product analytics and other service providers as described in the Privacy Policy to operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
10. Account Deletion and Termination
You may initiate account deletion from within the Service. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to Remi if you violate these Terms, create risk for other users, or create legal or operational risk for us.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Remi and Kevin Shim will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kevin Shim and Remi from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.
14. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Before filing a formal claim, you and Remi agree to try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis in California, except where applicable law allows a claim to be brought in small claims court.
15. Apple App Store Terms
If you access Remi through the Apple App Store, the following terms also apply:
- These Terms are between you and Kevin Shim only, not Apple Inc.
- Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for it.
- To the extent any warranty exists and the Service fails to conform to it, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, paid for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the Service.

- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
